The impact of climate change on water inflow of the three largest dams in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region

Drought and water scarcity are resulting from the effects of climate change during recent decades. The region Beni Mellal Khenifra, by nature its economic activities based particularly on agriculture availability resources, is considered among most vulnerable regions to in Morocco. In this paper, we analyzed impact three largest dams (Hassan first, Bin El Ouidane Ahmed Hansali), statistical data five stations over 1990-2020. We used Normalized Precipitation Index (SPI) characterize climatic drought, Mann-Kendall test assess trend temperature changes, Kendall’s tau linear regression detect relationship between parameters (temperature precipitation) supplies dams. Standardized results showed that underwent a significant rainfall deficit 19911995, 2000-2003, 2005-2008, 2017-2020. Their intensity varies moderate severe type. Moreover, values obtained Mann– Kendall an increasing for all stations. Correlation analysis with inflow mean annual inflows directly proportional yearly average SPI increase.
